Bridges Are About Connection

BridgesBridges are about connection. They connect one side of a valley, river bed or even a chasm to the other. Often bridges go over a stream or river, train tracks, a road or path. Bridges are cool and made of so many materials. Some are just basic and functional. Many are elaborate, creative and beautiful.

By definition, a bridge is a structure built to span a physical obstacle without blocking the way underneath. It is constructed to providing passage over the obstacle, usually something difficult or impossible to cross without a bridge.

We talk about building bridges between people too. We will need to rebuild bridges between people after the last few years.  We have just passed the two year anniversary of the pronouncement of the Covid pandemic. During those times we have seen family, friends, churches, companies, communities and countries divided over the many issues around the restrictions put in place by the various levels of government.

As we leave the pandemic restrictions behind, we will need to build new bridges or rebuild old broken bridges with friends, family, co-workers and the world at large.

  • If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:18
  • Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14
  • Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11
  • Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
  • The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out. Proverbs 17:14
  • Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:21

Have you burned any bridges in the past couple years? Now, today is the time to repair those relationships. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
